Day 5: Hospital de Bruma – Següeiro

Yesterday I went about 24km to Següeiro. In the morning I met E. from South Africa. She has 6 grandchildren at the moment and there will be 2 more in the next year. She practised her German by talking with me, recommended hiking trails in South Africa and was faster walking than most of the younger pilgrims like me.
In the evening there was a nice dinner with other pilgrims. We shared
Chipirones (small calamari) and pulpo.

Day 4: Betanzos – Hospital de Bruma

Today I went about 25km and with the hills it was one of the more difficult days on the Camino Inglés. There was a nice sunrise and beautiful and not-so-beautiful views. There was after Betanzos only one village with 2 bars shortly before the end of the walk… Both female owners took care so lovely for the customers that it felt for me more like being on a family-party than in a normal bar or cafe. I gave a tip of 2 Euro.. she said no, no… And came back with 2 one euro coins and took 1 in her hand and pressed one in my hand and smiled.
In the evening I had dinner with Daniel   and Regis (who has the same backpack as I)  from France, who met on their first camino in Spain in 2020 and did one camino together each year since then.

Day 3: Pontedeume – Betanzos

Today I walked about 20 kms. I am still a little bit ill but I feel best during walking. I walked quite a while with A.-M. from Quebec / Canada… She is retired, has 2 sons, 1 grandchild and took forcthe last kms a taxi because her legs were a little bit tired. There was a nice scenery, good weather, nice flowers and some cats. If I see a police while driving our car I always feel better if the police car is out of sight again… This is here as a pilgrim different. Maybe that is because I do not drive always 100% correctly. In the evening I had a hamburger in a small, lovely bar.

Day 2: Ferrol – Pontedeume

Today I walked from Ferrol to Pontedeume about 24km. In the morning the sea was calm, the birds were singing and the lights from the other beach were beautiful and peaceful. I met other pilgrims as well… For example N. from Quebec / Canada walks in a group of 16 people and R. from the U.S. walks her 12th Camino with two friends. I took the way on a bridge next to the bridge for the train… Otherwise I would have walked 4km more. The blackberries are almost completely gone because it is too late this year. After the shower and hand-washing the socks and the t-shirt I write the blog now.

Day 1: Memmingen – Ferrol

Yesterday I arrived at 22.30 in the hostel in Memmingen. Today the gates closed for boarding at 5.30, so I had to wake up early. In Santiago de Compostela it was raining, I saw some pilgrims and took the bus to Ferrol. I took a single room because I have a cold – but I think it is getting better. And I was at the harbour where the Camino Inglés starts.
